My MOT CheckerSources

Terms of use

Short, because the service is simple: we look things up in public registers and show you the result.

What this is

My MOT Checker shows information held by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency and Transport for London about vehicles and drivers, and explains the rules around it. It is free to use and needs no account.

Accuracy

We show what the source holds at the moment you search and we say where each item came from. We don’t alter records and we can’t correct them; if a record is wrong, the agency that holds it is the place to go. Derived items, such as a ULEZ verdict based on a registration date, are labelled as such. Don’t buy, sell, insure or drive a vehicle on the strength of this site alone: read the V5C and, where money is involved, get a full provenance check.

Fair use

The lookups are for people checking a vehicle they own, drive or are thinking of buying. Automated or bulk querying isn’t allowed, because it burns the API quota that keeps the site free for everyone. We rate-limit and may block traffic that looks automated.

Data and privacy

Set out on the privacy page. In short, we don’t keep your searches.

Liability

The site is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we accept no liability for loss arising from reliance on it. Nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited by law.
