Questions
Where does the tyre data come from?
Manufacturer original-equipment fitment data, licensed from a commercial vehicle-data provider. There is no government source for tyre sizes, which is why this part of the site can lag behind the MOT and tax lookups.
What if my car has different wheels on it?
The report shows what the car left the factory with, including optional wheel sizes where the maker offered them. If a previous owner fitted aftermarket wheels, read the sidewall of the tyre that's on the car now.
How do I read a tyre size?
205/55 R16 91V means 205mm wide, sidewall 55% of the width, 16-inch rim, load index 91 (615kg per tyre) and speed rating V (up to 149mph). Match or exceed the load and speed ratings when you replace them.
Tyres often show up as MOT advisories. Check the MOT history to see if a tester flagged them.
