    Securing nuts at one of the upper steering column attachments may be issing or loose. Also the universal joint cross screw joint in the upper steering column must be checked

    Fix: Check nuts are fitted and tightened to the correct tightening torque. Also check the vertical steering column is fitted correctly in the upper steering column universal joint cross rectifying where necessary.

  2. G CLASS, N, P SERIES, R SERIES · loss of steering control

    The drag link may not have been manufactured to the correct specification. There may be clearance between the draglink nut and the draglink arm which could potentially result in loss of steering control.

    Fix: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and check for clearance between the nut and the draglink arm. If there is a gap the draglink arm must be renewed.

    On affected vehicles the bolts retaining wall mounted seat belts and grab handles may not conform to specifications. These bolts could become loose and affect the security of the seat belt and grab handle.

    Fix: Renew the retaining bolts for the seat belts and grab handles.
