OUTLANDER, RENEGADE · loss of directional control
4 Dec 2009 · RSPV/2009/010
It has been identified that an electrical short circuit to earth of the dynamic power steering (DPS) may occur. This can result in the vehicle suddenly steering to the left of it's own accord causing the driver to lose directional control.
Fix: Recalled vehicles will have the DPS system upgraded with new software which will alert the driver to the presence of a problem. Additionally disable the DPS in order to prevent any undesirable steering inputs.
