  1. GRANDE PUNTO · steering may fail

    14 Dec 2009 · R/2009/130

It has been identified that the tightening torque of the steering shaft upper fixing bolt may not be correct. This may result in the emission of noise and in extreme cases breakage of the shaft which will result in loss of steering control.

Fix: Recalled vehicles will have the subject bolt checked for correct torque which if necessary will be set to the correct specification. If the torque is outside of the rework stipulated range the shaft will be replaced.

  3. 500, GRANDE PUNTO, PUNTO GRANDE · fuel may leak from manifold

    9 Jan 2009 · R/2008/181

Fuel may leak as on some engines the fuel manifolds may not be to specification. If the fuel manifold leaks it is possible that a loss of power could occur and the engine cut out.

Fix: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to inspect the fuel manifold and check it for conformity to specification. Where necessary replace the fuel manifold.

    18 Aug 2008 · R/2008/109

It has been identified that the possibility exists of interference between the heater/climate control wiring and a dashboard bracket due to a missing retainer clip. In this condition abrasion of the wiring may occur with the attendant risk of an electrical short circuit

Fix: Recalled vehicles will be inspected for damage to the subject wiring which if this has occurred will be repaired and repositioned. In all cases a new clip will be fitted.

    7 Dec 2007 · R/2007/173

Due to the possibility of a fault in the production process the flexible rubber brake hoses may not have been correctly vulcanised. As a consequence may partially or totally restrict the internal flow of the brake hydraulic fluid. Should this happen a reduction in efficiency during braking would occur.

Fix: Recalled vehicles will have the hoses checked to identify if they are within the affected batch. If this is the case they will be replaced with quality assured items.

Fix: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to inspect the profile and flaring of the end of the steering shaft at the upper universal joint and where necessary renew the shaft.
