ACTROS, AROCS, ATEGO, EACTROS, ECONIC · title of recall srl250925 – change parameters in front radar sensor (rdf) control unit – rdf-hoe
3 Oct 2025 · R/2025/409
As part of our continuous quality monitoring we have identified that the vehicle-specific RDF3 (radar front end) installation height value has not been parameterized in Econic 956 Actros 963 Arocs 964 Atego 967 and eActros 983 model vehicles. Instead of the vehicle-specific installation height value a substitute value of 1 m has been entered. The substitute value is always higher than the actual installation situation. RDF3 is responsible for object recognition detecting clearance as well as close and long-range processing. It can also detect the ability to drive under and over objects which enables a radar-only reaction as part of the ABA functionality. Since the sensor value is parameterized higher than the actual installation height trucks ahead may not be detected particularly on inclines. This may lead to the fact that automatic braking by the ABA may not being triggered. Furthermore incorrect parameterization may lead to objects on the ground such as tracks manhole covers etc. being erroneously detected as obstacles causing ABA to brake the vehicle. This may increase the risk of accident.
Fix: As a permanent measure we wish to determine the installation height of the RDF3 manually and parameterize the determined value in potentially affected vehicles as part of this recall campaign.

ACTROS · srl250829 – replace front axle springs – 2blafeva
12 Sep 2025 · R/2025/364
As part of our continuous quality monitoring we have found that the leaf springs of the front axle could break on Actros 963 vehicles. The cause of the breakage may be edge corrosion due to insufficient descaling or surface defects during the rolling process. Each of the two fault profiles can cause a fracture independently of the other. The defective part analysis indicates that edge corrosion may result from scale residues not fully removed during the supplier's production run. Additionally the fault profile reveals that surface defects occurring during the rolling process—specifically near the edge—coincide with the initiation of breakage which is attributed to system malfunctions at the supplier's end. The progressive edge corrosion or the surface defects from the rolling process can lead to material fatigue in the affected area. Failure of the component or breakage at the heavily stressed points of the lower leaf spring could be the consequence. Partial component loss during driving operation cannot be ruled out. The size of a potentially lost leaf spring part depends on the individual fracture pattern. This can increase the risk of an accident.
Fix: In the scope of the recall campaign both leaf springs of the front axle must be replaced on the potentially affected vehicles as a precautionary measure.

ACTROS · srl250603 – replace right air suspension support on the front axle – gewik09t
14 Jul 2025 · R/2025/221
Daimler Truck AG was informed that the thread flanks of the right mounting support of the 9 t front axle bolted to the axle housing on Actros 963 and eActros 983 vehicles are not sufficiently formed. As a consequence the threaded connection of the right mounting support to the axle housing is not permanently ensured.
Fix: Replacement of mounting support.

ACTROS, AROCS, ATEGO · threaded connections at the steering bracket of the steering gear may not have been correctly secured
28 Feb 2020 · R/2019/404
One or more threaded connections of the steering bracket may not have been correctly secured.
Fix: Check loosen and correctly apply the required tightening torque to the affected connections.

ACTROS, ANTOS, AROCS, ATEGO · brake hose incorrectly crimped
6 Nov 2017 · R/2017/247
A brake hose crimp connection could come loose and cause a reduction in braking effort.
Fix: On affected vehicles replace the brake hose with a correctly crimped version.

ACTROS, ANTOS, AROCS, ECONIC · gearshift bolt may loosen
16 Oct 2017 · R/2017/242
The catch bolt for the range change gearshift mechanism may work loose. This may affect gear changes and it is possible drive can be lost.
Fix: On affected vehicles remove catch and reassemble as per work instructions.
