  1. ACTROS 963, EACTROS 983 · srl260522 – agm-batt – check printed circuit board on battery for damage

    15 Jul 2026 · R/2026/220

As part of our continuous quality monitoring we have identified that in Actros 963 Arocs 964 vehicles with integral rear area and eActros 300/400 with fleece battery (absorbent glass mat) a thermal reaction may occur due to corrosion on the ACE chip (Advanced Connected Energy). Battery data can be evaluated via a Bluetooth interface using the integrated ACE chip. During assembly of the ACE chip at the supplier’s premises it is inserted into the recess provided between the battery terminals poured with resin (liquid plastic) and closed with the battery cover to protect against corrosion in a fully automated and quantity-controlled process. When filling with resin there may have been an insufficient fill level in the niche as well as an ACE chip inserted at an angle. The exposed connection points of the supply lines or the chip itself may corrode due to inadequate sealing. A corroded connection or corroded ACE chip may lead to increased electrical transitional resistance which may trigger a thermal reaction leading to a battery fire. In the worst case flames may spread to surrounding components or the vehicle. There is a risk of fire.

Fix: Check printed circuit board in on-board electrical system battery for damage. Replace on-board electrical system battery (after check) if necessary.

  2. ACTROS 963, EACTROS 983 · srl251215 – ver-radble

    21 Jan 2026 · R/2025/547

As part of our ongoing quality monitoring we have determined that on Actros 963 and eActros 983 vehicles the rear wheel arch cover on the front axle could fall off. A design-related plastic rib that is too high leads to a collision between the wheel arch cover and the fender. Due to the excessively high plastic rib on the rear wheel arch cover of the front axle this may be installed with preload and thus some fastening points may not be fully engaged. As a consequence the engaged fastening points of the wheel arch cover may fracture and the wheel arch cover (931 mm x 652 mm x 70 mm approx. 1.81 kg) may completely detach from the vehicle and fall off due to the dynamic load during driving operation. This may increase the risk of accidents for other road users.

Fix: As part of the recall campaign the excessively high plastic rib must be shortened on the potentially affected vehicles.

  3. EACTROS 983 · srl250616 – check serial number of the electric power steering pump for trailing axle – schkaehps1

    22 Aug 2025 · R/2025/306

As part of our continuous quality monitoring we have found that a thermal reaction may occur at the battery connection bolts of the electronically controlled power steering pump (EHPS (Electrohydraulic Power Steering)) of the trailing axle on vehicles of models eActros 983 and eEconic 956. The two battery connection points of the electronically controlled power steering pump of the trailing axle are located at the bottom in the installation position and are provided with a cover cap to protect against contact. Rain and splash water can collect in the cover cap. The water can no longer drain off due to missing drain holes. Because the battery connection points are standing in water electrochemical corrosion occurs that decomposes the bolts beyond the usual surface corrosion of the components. As a result of the corroded contact surface the transitional resistance at the terminal stud to the battery line increases and energy is released in the form of heat. Depending on the intensity and duration of the thermal reaction the battery lines and the circuit board of the electronically controlled power steering pump could ignite and in an unfavourable case flames could spread to surrounding components or the vehicle. This may increase the risk of fire. Failure of the electronically controlled power steering pump of the trailing axle has only minor effects on driving operation. There are only restrictions when reversing which however correspond to the operation of a non-steerable trailing axle. The turning circle could also be increased. However this is hardly noticeable to the driver.

Fix: As part of the recall campaign the electronically controlled power steering pump and the cover cap must be replaced on the affected vehicles.

  4. EACTROS 983 · srl250617 – check electrical connection of the electric power steering pump for trailing axle – schkaehps2

    22 Aug 2025 · R/2025/307

A thermal reaction may occur at the battery connection bolts of the electronically controlled power steering pump (EHPS (Electrohydraulic Power Steering)) of the trailing axle on vehicles of models eActros 983 and eEconic 956. The two battery connection points of the electronically controlled power steering pump of the trailing axle are located at the bottom in the installation position and are provided with a cover cap to protect against contact. There are only restrictions when reversing which however correspond to the operation of a non-steerable trailing axle. The turning circle could also be increased. However this is hardly noticeable to the driver.

Fix: As part of the recall campaign the cover caps on the affected vehicles must be replaced with cover caps with a water drain hole and the battery terminal studs must be cleaned and sealed with corrosion protection spray.

  5. EACTROS 983 · srl250714 – retrofit screws of cover caps in rubber profile of side trim – abd-kap

    31 Jul 2025 · R/2025/292

On affected vehicles the cover caps are plugged onto the retaining strip of the lower profile seal of the side trim. The catch lugs of the cover caps attached to the profile seals of the side trim frame may may break unnoticed during assembly and the cap may therefore only be inserted loosely. If a cover cap is lost the profile seal might wander and be lost from the vehicle.

Fix: Replace the plugged-in cover caps with screwed-on cover caps

  6. EACTROS 983, EECONIC · srl250116 – el-lehepu replace electric power-steering pump.

    5 Mar 2025 · R/2025/017

The electrohydraulic power steering pumps (EHPS) may fail on eActros 983 and eEconic 956 model vehicles. Due to insufficient anti-corrosion protection at the electrical connections and production tolerances the electrohydraulic power steering pumps may fail. If both electrohydraulic power steering pumps at the front axle fail the steering forces suddenly and significantly increase as soon as the second electrohydraulic power steering pump fails.

Fix: Replace the electrohydraulic power steering pumps with optimized electrohydraulic power steering pumps as a precautionary measure on the potentially affected vehicles.

  7. ACTROS 963, AROCS 964, EACTROS 983 · srl240201 - stabi-achs retighten stablizer link bearing cap screws on trailing axle

    14 Apr 2024 · R/2024/126

On certain vehicles the lock-up value of the torque on one of the four screws on the stabilizer of the trailing axle which amplifies the effect of the stabilizer link installed as standard on back-heavy vehicles may be undershot.

Fix: Check and correct the lock-up value of the tightening torque of the screw on the stabilizer of the trailing axle as a precautionary measure.

    7 Feb 2023 · R/2022/321

Diodes were soldered onto the circuit board of some accelerator pedals instead of transistors during the accelerator pedal suppliers assembly process.

Fix: Check the serial number on the identification plate of the accelerator pedal and if necessary replace the affected accelerator pedals.
