    The brake actuator clamping bands on the front axle may be weakened through fouling the shock absorber top mounting when the steering is on full lock and the brake pads are worn considerably. In time the clamping ring may fail and the braking effort at the front axle will be lost resulting in much longer stopping distances.

    Fix: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the top shock absorber brackets of the front axle and if there has been any signs of fouling fit new actuator clamping rings.

  11. ELITE · front hub casting may fail in area of wheel bolts.

    The front hub outer ring portion that houses the wheel bolts may break away from the inner nave portion fastened to the stub axle. In the worst case this would lead to detachment of the wheel.

    Fix: Inspect vehicles in the affected range and replace any defective hubs found.

  14. ELITE · possible fire risk

    The left hand lower noise shield may contact the vehicle silencer and cause heat damage to the shield. Whilst the shield is constructed of and supported by self extinguishing material trapped / collected debris or refuse in the area of the shield

    Fix: Dennis Eagle have written to operators of all affected vehicles advising them to remove the heat shield with immediate effect and to report back to the manufacturer that this has been done.

  15. ELITE · possible axle misalignment

    There is a possibility that the drive axle and/or the link steer axle U bolts nuts were not fully torqued during build. This may result in misalignment of the axles.

    Fix: Dennis Eagle have contacted the operators of all the vehicles concerned both by telephone and in writing advising them to check and retorque the subject bolts immediately notifying the manufacturer in writing when this action has been completed.

  16. ELITE · possible malfunction of handbrake control valve

    The Knorr - Bremse handbrake control valve may have suffered premature wear. This could allow the vehicle to roll away whilst parked.

    Fix: The affected vehicles to have the control valve internal mechanism examined for compliance with the valve manufacturers standards. Any valve which does not conform to these standards will be replaced.
