All Harley-Davidson FX recalls, newest first

  1. FL, FX · clutch may malfunction

    1 Nov 2014 · RM/2014/030

A tear may develop in the clutch master cylinder seal allowing a slow release of pressure in the system. If this should occur there may not be sufficient clutch lift to prevent the machine creeping forward.

Fix: Recall the machines that are likely to be affected to replace the clutch master cylinder piston assembly.

  2. FX · engine may stop unexpectedly

    20 May 2014 · RM/2014/016

The engine may stop unexpectedly due to the fuel supply running out even though the fuel range indicator shows miles remaining and in some cases before the low fuel warning lamp illuminates.

Fix: Recall the machines that are likely to be affected to perform a software programme update to re-calibrate the fuel level sensor signal.

    435 vehicles · built 30 Mar 2012 to 10 Mar 2014

  3. FLHT, FX · clutch may not disengage

    21 Oct 2013 · RM/2013/029

Hydraulic clutch system may lose the ability to generate enough lift to disengage the clutch. (Hydraulic clutch failure) and possibly an incorrect clutch release plate may have been installed. These items can cause the inability to disengage the engine from the transmission during operation leading to a dangerous condition.

Fix: Recall the machines that are likely to be affected to clean the secondary actuator of debris and install a new release rod and rod end. Additionally to identify the type of clutch release plate and where necessary replace with one of the correct type.

    25 vehicles · built 3 May 2013 to 14 Oct 2013

  4. FX · possible loss of control

    23 Mar 2009 · RM/2009/007

It has been identified that the jiffy stand spring anchor may have been constructed with a defective weld which may result in the stand not retracting as intended. In this condition control of the machine could be lost.

Fix: Recalled machines will have the jiffy stand spring anchor replaced.

    122 vehicles · built 24 Jul 2008 to 28 Aug 2008

  5. FX · possibility of fire

    8 Jun 2007 · RM/2007/023

It has been identified that the possibility exists that the battery positive lead may contact a weld bead on the oil tank. This may cause the weld bead to abrade the insulation on the cable and cause an electrical short circuit from the battery through the oil tank and oil lines. This could lead to an oil leak and or the possibility of a fire.

Fix: Recalled machines will have a battery caddy installed that will protect the cable and ensure correct routing.
