  2. CVO, SOFTAIL, TOURING · loss of control

    29 Jul 2016 · RM/2016/037

Hydraulic clutch master cylinder may fail to disengage engine on initial gear engagement leading to the machine lurching forward and falling over. This condition gives an elevated risk of injury to the rider and bystanders.

Fix: Recall the machines that are likely to be affected to inspect and clean the clutch master cylinder piston. Where necessary the master cylinder piston will be replaced.

  3. DYNA, FXDF, SOFTAIL · possible brake failure

    21 Jan 2015 · RM/2015/004

The brake fluid in the front brake system could be contaminated. The contamination can cause the brake fluid to gel and / or corrosion to the master cylinder banjo bolt threads sufficiently severe to cause leakage or failure. If either of the conditions occur it will lead to a reduction in brake performance and increase the risk of a collision / incident.

Fix: Recall the machines that are likely to be affected to replace the banjo bolt brake fluid and where necessary the master cylinder.

  5. SOFTAIL · shorting of starter relay

    1 Mar 1993 · RM/93/001

An internal short circuit may occur in the starter relay. This could generate sufficient heat to constitute a fire risk.

Fix: Recall the affected machines and replace the original relay with a version incorporating improved sealing properties. At the same time the relay will be repositioned to render it less liable to the ingress of moisture.
