  1. EC · directional control may be lost

    Due to incorrect specified locknuts it is possible for the steering column universal joint clamp nut and bolt to loosen. This can result in a reduction of clamping force and subsequent detachment of the steering column universal joint which can result in loss of directional control.

    Fix: Recall the affected vehicles to check and replace the subject nuts. If movement is detected between the joint and column the dealer will contact MAN UK for instruction on the course of rectification.

    Service and parking brake actuator hoses may fail due to insufficient crimping of the metal ferrule on the hose. If one or more service brake hoses fail there would be a marked reduction in braking capability. If a parking brake hose failed the parking brakes would automatically apply without warning.

    Fix: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to fit quality assured hoses.

  12. EC · steering gear mounting

    The bolts securing the steering gear adaptor plate to the chassis mounting casting may not have been tightened to the correct torque at initial assembly. If not corrected this could have an effect on steering control.

    Fix: Recall the affected vehicles and check the torque of the steering gear adaptor plate to chassis bracket bolts tightening to the manufacturers specification where necessary. Any bolts suspected of being damaged due to looseness should be replaced.
