Hino recalls

There is a possibility the air bag inflator may rupture on activation. Hino has not received any reports of this occurring in its vehicles in global markets. The recall is being conducted as a precautionary measure.

Fix: The remedy involves replacing the faulty air bag module with one made by a different manufacturer.

The parking brake lever may not engage correctly when the vehicle is pulled up because the teeth in the ratchet mechanism may balance on the tooth tops. In this condition teeth may slip out of place due to vibration.In extreme instances the lever may be released due to inadequate spring force inside the ratchet mechanism and the vehicle may move.

Fix: On affected vehicles replace the handbrake lever with a unit with improved spring pressure.

It has been identified that the fuel filter/accumulator installed on the engine may crack causing the element to break which will ultimately resulting in fuel leakage. The issue can be identified to the driver by noticing fuel leaking onto the road surface under the vehicle plus the driver may find it difficult to start the engine.

Fix: Recall all affected vehicles to replace the fuel filter/accumulator with a new enhanced unit.

It has been identified that the cab wiring harness can come in contact with a support bracket within the cab which can cause chaffing damage. This can result in either the engine cutting out and/or the wiper motor suddenly stopping.

Fix: Recall all affected vehicles to fit additional protection to the edge of support bracket and to inspection for damage to the wiring harness. If found damaged then repair as necessary and fit an additional vinyl protection sleeve to the harness.

It has been identified that during production the front brake back plate retaining bolts may not have been tightened to the correct torque. Should the vehicle continue to be used in this condition the bolts may work loose and fail. In the worst case this could result in the front brake assembly detaching from the axle breaking the air line causing a loss of braking effort at the affected wheel station and an increase in stopping distance.

Fix: Recalled vehicles will have the subject bolts checked for correct torque. If found not to be at the correct torque the bolts will be checked and replaced as necessary.
