  1. HAND BRAKE VALVE · vehicle brakes may release unintentionally

    25 Jul 2016 · RCOMP/2016/010

The Hand Brake Valve handle automatic locking function may not maintain the park position. The handle may remain in the lock only temporarily and flip back from the parking position into the driving position in which case the vehicle can runaway.

Fix: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and exchange the Hand Brake Valve with a quality assured unit.

    440 vehicles · built 2 Jun 2014 to 16 May 2016

  2. TRISOP ACTUATOR · actuators may lose functionality

    16 Mar 2016 · RCOMP/2016/003

On some TRISTOP actuators the chambers may not have been correctly assembled and the load from power spring and pressure is not fully taken. Under certain circumstances the parking side and the service sides of the actuator could separate and the actuator could lose functionality. Ultimately this could lead to a loss of braking functionality and/or brake failure. Critical applications are vehicles such as city buses or garbage collection vehicles (subject to a high parking brake frequency). Long haul applications are not considered critical and thus do not require an exchange.

Fix: Identify and replace affected actuators.

  3. FOOT BRAKE VALVE · potential for failure of foot brake valve

    23 May 2008 · RCOMP/2008/003

In extreme cases overlapping of tolerances in conjunction with wear can potentially cause the bushing of the Foot Brake Valve (FBV) to move from its correct position. When this potential malfunction occurs it may not be possible to use the FBV to brake the vehicle.. However it is possible to use the handbrake instead to bring the vehicle to a controlled stop.

Fix: To recall the affected components and replace them with quality assured components.

  4. PREV VALVE · unindented application of the brakes

    25 Jan 2007 · RCOMP/2007/002

It has been identified that in some cases overlapping of tolerances has the potential to make the black button of the PREV to stick in the pushed-in position when the trailer is coupled to the tractor unit. When this malfunction occurs the red warning lamp or signal for the trailer braking system on the dashboard of the truck will alert the driver that the reservoir air pressure in the trailer is dropping below 4.5 Bar. If this pressure falls below 2.5 Bar this will cause unintended braking of the vehicle.

Fix: To address the concern Wabco under the terms of the Code will contact customers who will be provided with a valve repair kit.

  5. BIVL9-22W01 · brakes may fail to apply or may apply inadvertently

    20 Jun 2006 · RCOMP/2006/007

It has been identified that a disconnection of the air intake port may ocurr during service brake application. This can affect the correct functioning of the service brake and may cause the parking brake to apply inadvertently.

Fix: Recalled vehicles will have the brake assemblies replaced.

  6. BINL9-22W01 · brakes may fail to apply or may apply inadvertently
